How Allegra Works?
Allegra is an antihistamine. When you have an allergic reaction your body produces histamine, Allegra works to block the histamine production, which lessens and often eliminates the reaction.
Allegra medication contains an antihistamine and decongestant used to relieve allergy symptoms such as itchy, red eyes, stuffy nose and throat irritation.
How Allegra taken?
Take this Allegra medication by mouth on an empty stomach 1 hour before or two hours after meals as directed, usually twice daily. Taking this Allegra medicine with a high fat meal can decrease its effectiveness. Do not take antacids containing aluminum and magnesium within 2 hours of taking this Allegra medication. Swallow the Allegra medicine whole. Do not crush or chew the Allegra tablet, and do not take more than prescribed. Do not take this Allegra product within 14 days after stopping an MAO Inhibitor.
What are the Allegra side-effects?
The Allegra side-effects are usually mild and don't last longer than a few hours. These are as follows

Unlikely but report promptly: dizziness, mental/mood changes, fast heartbeat, fever. Very unlikely but report promptly: irregular pulse, seizures, fainting. Although drowsiness is very uncommon at usual doses under normal circumstances, be aware that this Allegra medication may have such an effect before performing tasks requiring alertness (e.g., driving). Warning And Precautions
Allegra is strictly taken under doctor's supervision.
Tell your doctor your medical history, including: allergies, kidney/urinary problems, enlarged prostate, glaucoma (narrow angle), severe high blood pressure, heart disease, diabetes, thyroid problems (hyperthyroid). Limit alcohol intake, as it may aggravate drug side effects.
Allegra medication should be used only when clearly needed during pregnancy.
The pseudoephedrine in this Allegra product is excreted into breast milk. Consult your doctor before breast-feeding.
